The path to owning a home
The path to homeownership has several steps and detailed requirements. It will be an exciting and ultimately rewarding journey and we are dedicated to providing the support you need along the way.

1 Attend homebuyer education

Take a Homebuyer Education class and learn everything you need to know about buying a home.

2 Get pre-approved

Getting pre-approved makes you a more attractive buyer and gives you greater negotiation power. You can get started today via one of our Participating Lenders or through the RIHousing Loan Center.

3 Apply for a loan

Learn more about which loan is right for you.

4 Find a home

Work with a certified real estate professional to find the home that fits both your needs and your budget.

5 Sign a contract

By completing this step, you will finalize the terms of your loan and agreement, and legally take ownership of your home.

6 Close and become a homeowner

Complete the final requirements in the closing process and enjoy your new home!
